Using Godot made development a breeze, and enabled easy exports to all major platforms with trackpad input and gestures, pen tablet drawing with variable pressure support, a rich 2D renderer capable of drawing thousands of strokes blazingly fast, and abstractions over common desktop APIs like clipboard contents.
sunfish is written in 100% GDScript with an extensible addon system, where every tool and every theme is implemented with the exact same API given to plugin developers. Not that I think anybody is going to make a plugin, I just thought it was cool.
